Mrs. Janet Marie Ford (nee McKinnon), 78, of Searcy, departed peacefully from this life on November 11, 2018, at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Janet was born to Howard and Ruby (Lewis) McKinnon on September 26, 1940, in St. Louis County, Missouri. On February 19, 1959, she married Manuel Ford and they were blessed with 59 ½ years of marriage.

In her younger years Janet was a track and field standout and notably excelled in hurdles, winning many awards, trophies, and recognitions for her efforts on the track. She provided 34 years of loyal service to the Searcy School District as an integral member of the cafeteria staff as well as a dedicated school bus driver. Janet greatly enjoyed camping, especially at Treasure Lake RV Resort in Branson, MO, and in various locations in Texas, and delighted in making many lifelong friends on her travels. One of the greatest joys in life was her beloved chihauhua, Festus, who was never far from her side, traveling many miles with her on these adventures. She also rejoiced in hosting family and friends in her home and cooking for loved ones. Janet was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Four Mile Hill Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles (“Red”) and Herbie McKinnon; sisters, Norma (“Blackie”) Presley and Linda McKinnon; grandson, Jonathan Cox; and father-and mother-in-law, Earl and Gladys Ford.

Janet is survived by her husband, Manuel Ford of the home; daughter, Lisa Ford of Searcy; son, Monty Ford of Pangburn; grandchildren, Lareisa Herring, Erika (David) McKee, Dustin Williams, Katelyn Camacho Yau, Kodi (Logan) Adams, Kelsey Davis, and Kristin Laire; great-grandchildren, Talasi, Cade, Rivers, Magnum, Annmarie, Willow, Kili, Cooper, Kayra, and Gunner; brother-in-law; Jerry Ford, and a host of extended family and friends.
