Ray and his brother Vearn started a farming partnership in 1946, and was active on his farm until his death. Ray was united in marriage to Dorothy Lucille Laker on November 21, 1948 in Aurora, IN.
He was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and was very active in Church work all his life. He was active in Walther League, served on Trinity Church boards and served on the Wyoming District Board of Governors for 20 plus years and was also very active in the International Lutheran Layman’s League serving on the Board of Governors, as President for the Nebraska District from 1977 to 1980. Ray served as President of the Board of Directors for Sidney Memorial Hospital from 2000 to2012.
