Howard Carl Barker "HB" was born July 14, 1957 in Flint, MI and was the son of Howard Barker, Sr. and Lillie Beatrice Barker. The Barker family migrated from Marion, IL to Flint, MI where Howard Barker, Sr. and Lillie Beatrice Barker raised their ten children to include their last born, Howard Carl Barker. Howard Carl leaves to cherish his memory: his sisters, Bridgit (Barker) Thompson, of Detroit, MI, Phyllis Barker of Flint, MI; brothers, Danny (Carol) Barker of St. Louis, MO and Dennis Barker of Indianapolis, IN; nieces and nephews, Tyrel, JaPaula, Jeanna, Danielle Danny Jr., Monika, Kenyal, Tommeka, Deante, CyTrice, Nikita, Evita, Layette, Princess, Chelsea, Venus, Andre and LaTora; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends in Michigan, Illinois, and California.
Howard also leaves to cherish several close family members and friends, to include his Godparents, Pastor Edward (Gail) Sewell; God-brothers, Duran Wilson and DoTwaun Harris; beloved aunts, JoAnn Deloney and Alice Barnett; longtime friends, Carl Lewis, Eld. Leon Louie and Ernest Pitts; special cousin, Beverly Barnett; close cousins in the Miller, Murphy and Shumpert families; special friends to include Kor'shia Watkins, Lynda Hoskins and Marcus Osborne.
Howard Carl Barker was preceded in death by his loving parents, Howard Barker, Sr. and LillieBeatrice Barker; brothers, Terry Barker, Ronny Barker and Wayne Barker; sisters, Peggy Persinger and Linda (Persinger) Kemp; nephews, Tyrone Rolex, Terrance Barker, Richard "Taush" Kemp, Little Tyrel; cousin, Jimmy Merriweather and long-time friend, Vickie Young.
Howard was they youngest of his siblings and a veteran of the United States Army. He was all of life, full of love and had a heart that burst with joy. Howard always had a song to sin and a funny story to be told. He was a Christian man who loved to worship, sing, and give praise. Our beloved Howard was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church-Pastor Michael Pettigrew, where he was a deacon in the church. He was loved by his church family and in the Flint community. Howard was known by all for his kind heart and his God-given talents of singing and wood-work.
