Actor, singer. Ron started off his Broadway career in 1978 in the play Timbuktu. In 1983, he was a member of the national touring company of Dreamgirls. In 1985, he won a Tony and a Drama Desk Award for his role as Jim in Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. After the play closed in 1987, he embarked on a concert tour of Europe. He would make two more appearances on Broadway in Oh, Kay! and The Boys Choir of Harlem and Friends. On television, he appeared as Rev. Davis in the sitcom 227. Ron died of AIDS complications.
