Willa Mae Williams was born July 8, 1936 to Nathaniel and Corene Thompson. She joined the Saint Mary’s Missionary Church at a young age.

Willa left Camilla and moved to Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Brooklyn College and became very active in the community. Willa left an incredible mark in Brooklyn serving as Director of Summer Youth Program in East New York feeding the low-income youth. The East New York Community showed their appreciation of Willa's contributions and commitment to the community by electing her Woman of the Year sponsored by Greyhound in 1975. Willa moved to Albany, GA where she continued her community service until she retired.

Willa truly lived by example when teaching the meaning of friendship through her enduring friendships with Lillie Martin, Vicki Allen, Frances Stroble and Murlene Edwards.

Willa was preceded in death by her parents Nathaniel & Corene Thompson, her brother Charles, her grandson Kareem and her sister Ella Frances.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children Clyde Antonio Williams, Charles Arnez Williams, Cheryl Arvetta Williams and Corene Anita Williams; her grandchildren Shawn Antonia Williams (Branded Sha’Ron), Nia Fatimah Williams and Kyle Williams; her great-grandchildren, Alixandra, Dominique, Ashar Kareem and Ariyah Karyn Mae; three sisters, Emma Lou, Glayds and Annette, four brothers, Nathaniel, Horace, Larry, and Freddie; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Willa’s commitment and service to community is certainly engraved in the hearts and minds of all her family members that she put to work throughout the years.
