Sylvia Ellen Oliver 97, of Huntsville, Missouri , died Monday, October 29, 2018 at her home. She was born March 24, 1921 in South Bend, IN the daughter of Clark and Lillian (Geer) Bassett. She married Willard C. Oliver on January 10, 1942 in San Antonio, TX and he preceded her in death on June 20, 2007.



Sylvia was a graduate of LaPorte, IN High School, class of 1939. She received her bachelor's degree from Texas State College in San Marcus, TX and her masters in Library Science from the University of Missouri. She was a home economics teacher at Moberly and Huntsville. She was the Administrative librarian for the Little Dixie Public Library in Moberly and at the Moberly Area Junior College.



She enjoyed playing bridge and going to the Rusty Hinges swim class at the Moberly YMCA. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher, Financial secretary, Librarian, member of the choir, and member of the WMU.



Sylvia is survived by son Jeffrey (Judith) Oliver of Huntsville, MO, daughter Jill (James) Pilkington of Huntsville, MO, grandchildren Debra (Matt) Dolan of Fort Worth, TX, Robert (Angela) Oliver of Old Monroe, MO, Wendy Pilkington of Huntsville, MO, Barry (Kimber) Pilkington of Madison, MO, seven great grandchildren, brother Robert Bassett of Jensen Beach, FL, brother in law Harold Oliver of Huntsville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, twin granddaughters Jean & Jeanette Oliver, a brother Charles Bassett, and two sisters Thelma Battersby, and Dorothy Schirr.
