Chief Charles Bryce Ashby, 89, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 in Delta, UT. Born in Crescent, Utah on August 14, 1929, to Charles Prosser and Lucille Jensen Ashby.
He bravely served his country in the US Army being stationed in Korea from 1951 to 1953. Married his high school sweetheart, Zella Geneal Swenson, on February 16, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Bryce was integral part of the Millard County Sheriff's Posse and Delta City Volunteer Fire Department, the American Legion, and West Millard Ambulance Service. He was recognized with an Honorary Utah Sheriff Award in 2012. He earned his 50 Year Award, and recognized with a Lifetime Award from the Utah State Firefighters Association, and had honor of serving as president of Western National Fire Chiefs Association.
Bryce was preceded in death by wife: Geneal; and two infant children. He is survived by his children: Connie Corry; Kathleen (Charlie) Mazza; Lynn (Patty) Ashby; Colleen (Scott) Cope; 14 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
Funeral: Friday, November 16, 11:00 am, at Delta LDS Stake Center, 125 S White Sage Ave. Viewings: Thursday, 6-8 PM, at Nickle Mortuary, 190 S Center St, Delta; and Friday, 9:30-10:40, prior to service. Burial Delta City Cemetery. Condolences and full obituary at www.nicklemortuary.com
