Daniel Joseph Moran Sr., age 80, of Gulfport, passed away Thursday November 8, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arno and Gloria Cuevas Moran.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Blackmarr Moran; sons, Gregory Edmond Moran and Daniel J. Moran, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Randie Moran; and grandchildren, Hayden Moran, Lilly Tynes, Connor Moran, Ryan Moran and Derek Moran.
Born on February 14, 1938 in Gulfport, Daniel was the founder and owner of Central Paint and Supply Company. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Gulfport and a member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as the President of the Bishop Gunn Council Home Board from 1979 to 1983 and earning numerous service awards, including recognition as Knight of the Month and Knight of the Year.
After retirement, Daniel went back to work at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, providing comfort and support to patients and their families as a hospital escort. Also, he indulged his passion for horticulture, growing and tending a large variety of camellias at his home and on his farm in Lizana.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday November 14, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport. The funeral service will be held on Friday November 16, 2018 at 11:00AM at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
