Also survived by her close friends, Lynne and Arleta, other relatives, and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, Clayburn and Thelma Scott; her in-laws, Herman and Mae Ott; and many siblings.

Visitation at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon. Service at 12:00 noon. Burial at Highland Memorial Park.

Doris Marie was born on September 22, 1930 to parents, Clay and Thelma Scott.

She grew up in Texas with five brothers, (Clifford, Raymond, Mac, Kenneth and Larry) and 2 sisters, (Billie Ann & Yvonne).

At the age of 17, she met and married Jack Garner. They were married until Jack passed away in 1992 – a total of 44 years.

In 1948, shortly after their marriage, they moved to Wisconsin. Doris lived in the house that Jack had designed and built in Franklin for 50 years. They would often refer to each other as Mom and Dad. They had 3 children, (David, Larry Mark, and Rita).

Doris worked in a nursing home for several years and was known for being a caring, hard worker.

She also worked at St. Luke’s Hospital for 10 years, starting in the housekeeping department and later working as a nursing aide in one of the Intensive Care Units.

After retiring Doris’s favorite part-time job was rocking the babies at a nearby day care center.

She loved to travel with her dear friend, Arletta. They made several trips to Las Vegas and back to Texas.

The joy of her life were her grandchildren.

Doris had five grandchildren, (David, Deanna, Mark, Dawn, and Michael).

Doris had 12 great-grandchildren, (Dustin, Gabriel, Hanna, Ivy, Olivia, Alice, Dakota, Christian, Victoria, Brayden, Vivian, and Mallory).

Doris had one great-great-grandchild, Hunter.

Doris was known as Mom and Grandma to many others.

She freely gave her heart to anyone who was lucky enough to cross her path.

While going thru Mom’s things, I came across a diary that she had kept after our father had passed. It was full of short notes to Dad. One in particular seems to be most appropriate now. I know she would want me to share it with all of you.

Dad,

Here is a poem I found. During some of my hardest days I read it and it reminds me of you and how you would guide me if only you were here by my side. I can hear you say, Mom don’t worry everything will be okay.

When I am gone release me, let me go.
I have so many things to do and see.
You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears.
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love.
You can only guess,
how much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you have shown,
but now it’s time I traveled alone.
So grieve a while for me if you must,
then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It’s only for a while that we must part,
so bless the memories within your heart.
I won’t be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near,
and if you listen with your heart, you’ll hear,
all of my love around you, soft and clear.
And then when you must come this way alone,
I’ll greet you with a smile and say “Welcome Home”.
I love you with all my heart.
