Jerry Wofford Moody, of Saint Charles, MO, died Thursday, November 8, 2018. He was 93. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred Tanner Moody; his children Nan (William) Stumbo of Fairpoint, NY; Edmund T. Moody of Jefferson City, MO; and Peter W. (Laura) Moody Plano, TX; his grandchildren Marie and Rebecca Stumbo, and Jack and Sam Moody. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah Moody and his brothers, Peter R. Moody, Reuben B. “Cotton” Moody, and Jack O. Moody, and his parents Jack O. Moody and Nannie Smith Moody.

Jerry was born on November 7, 1925 in Dillon, SC, but grew up in Cooleemee, NC. He served in World War II as a Marine. He was a graduate of Belmont Abbey College and the University of North Carolina. He worked as a Research Chemist for Batelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, OH; Monsanto of St. Louis, MO; and at MEMC of St. Peters, MO. Jerry was also active for many years in Boy Scouts with his sons. He was a voracious reader and loved traveling, movies, and all kinds of music, especially opera. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

A private burial service will be held at Canfield Village Cemetery, in Canfield, OH. If desired, memorials can be made to the Sarah Moody Scholarship Fund at Ventura County Community Foundation, VCCF Nonprofit Center, 4001 Mission Oaks Blvd, Suite A. Camarillo, CA 93012 or any children’s charity.
