Anna Hood, 94, of Gifford, went to be with Jesus in the early morning hours of Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at OSF Heart of Mary Hospital, Urbana.

She was born March 25, 1924, in Tolono, a daughter of Uylssis and Mentie (Hunt) Brooks. She married William Hood on March 28, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo. He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 2002.

She is survived by five children, Eugene (Barbara) Hood of Gifford, Ruth (Harry) King of Penfield, Dale (Jill) Hood of Lester, Mo., Carolyn (Greg Pundt) Ross of Gifford and Marilyn Tweady-Jeakins of Rantoul; a brother, James “Red” (Dorothy) Brooks of Urbana; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by eight siblings and a grandson, Troy Tweady.

Anna was a member of the Rantoul United Pentecostal Church. She loved to cook and garden. Her family was her pride and joy. She took pride in being a farmer’s wife and prepared exemplary meals for her family.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul. The Rev. Chris King will officiate. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
