He attended Ethel W. Kight High School and was a 1972 graduate of Troup High School. He worked at West Point Pepperrell and General Fibers for 13 years.
“Cutt’n Hub” was a faithful member of New Harmony C. M. E. Church and sing in the middle of Forrest Johnson, Sr. and his church wife, Anita Rowland in the choir. He is still the reigning “Man of the Year of 2011”.
Herbert Lee had a lot of everyday “shepherds” and here are a few: Howard Lee Davidson, Forrest Johnson, Sr., Larry “Rot Gut” Jones, Addis “Nutt” Trammell, Rose Williams, Keith Trammell, Priscilla Wallace Goodwin, Jackie Winston, Janice Henderson, Trina McQueen, Monica Gunsby, Alfred Hall, Lilla Mae Hall, McKenzie “Monday Night Raw” Wallace, Katrista Brooks, “Mrs. Sis” Shriley Cena Green; and a million more.
He was preceded in death by two siblings: Diana Dawson and Dexter Phillips.
He leaves to celebrate his memories, his mother, Georgia M. Phillips, Atlanta; three brothers, Eddie (Lisa) Dawson, Atlanta; Tony (Allison) Gilliam, LaGrange; Anthony (Michelle) Phillips, Atlanta; three sisters, Gloria (Early) Phillips Dunlap, LaGrange; Felicia Phillips, Atlanta; and a host of nieces and nephews who love and miss him dearly.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 1:00 PM at New Harmony C. M. E. Church with Pastor John Pollard, officiating. Burial will follow at the Church Cemetery.
