Shirley Mae Seward died September 22, 2002 at Merten's House in Woodstock, VT. She was born April 12, 1922, in Wallingford, VT; the daughter of Harvey and Martha (Kearsley) Hatch.

She graduated from Rutland High School.

She married Henry Seward on November 1, 1941 in Rutland who preceded her in death only months before her own.

She worked in retail and as a nurse's aide in the Springfield School System, retiring in 1984 and moving to Nokomis, Fla., with her husband.

She enjoyed golf and bridge.

Survivors include four sons, Henry Seward of Claremont, NH., Kenneth Seward of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Glen Seward and Douglas Seward, both of Brownsville; three sisters, Ruth Creed and Elizabeth McClallen, both of Rutland, and Lois Hewett of Springfield; four grandchildren and two great-grandsons; and nieces and nephews.

The graveside service will be held in Brownsville Cemetery in West Windsor, VT.
