EDWARDSBURG, MI - Robert Gene Hinton, 76 years old, of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest Nov. 7, 2018 in the Emergency Room of Elkhart General Hospital from a brief illness. He was born July 26, 1942 in Collinwood, TN, the son of Floyd Glen and Mae (Tidwell) Hinton and has been living here for over 35 years. He worked in the RV Industry, being a truck driver and did service on RVs by traveling for the RV Industry.
He was married July 18, 1970 in Virginia to Nadine Horn, and she survives with children: Kris Gene (Julie) Hinton of Granger, Tammy Mae VanMeter of Reynoldsburg, OH, Johnny (Dawn) Vance of Elkhart, Tamela (Howie) Yoder of Shipshewana, IN, Sandra Rzepka of South Bend, and Patricia Endicott of Mishawaka. There are 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings: Lorraine Stankus of Osceola, Joyce Ann Coryell of Gray, GA, Earl Hinton of Cloverdale, AL, and Pastor Charles (Sandy) Hinton of Edgewood, TX. Family who preceded him in passing are his parents; a son, Robert Gene Hinton, Jr. in 2008; and brothers, James and Leroy Hinton.
Family and friends may gather on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM for visitation at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main Street, Edwardsburg. The Service of Remembrance will follow the visitation, starting at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Charles Hinton, Robert's brother. Interment will follow the service at Adamsville Cemetery in Edwardsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Edwardsburg American Legion Post 365, 25751 US-12, Edwardsburg, MI 49112.
