James Taylor “Dick” Elam, age 76, of Paris, Kentucky, died on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at St. Joseph Hospital, in Lexington, Kentucky, after an extended illness. He was born on March 27, 1942, in Bourbon County, Kentucky, the son of the late James Clay and Claudia Rankin Elam. He was a graduate of North Middletown High School and served his country from 1960 to 1966 in the Army National Guard. He was known by many, having worked as a carpet salesman. He had made a profession of faith and was a member of Spears Mill Baptist Church.

He is survived by: his wife, Wanda Platt Elam, a daughter, Teresa Faulconer, and her husband Joe, a son, Kenny Taylor Elam, and wife, Connie, and a grandson, Travis Taylor Elam, all of Paris. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his little buddy, Otis.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 10, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, with Rev. Phil Ronk officiating. Burial will follow in Paris Cemetery, with bearers being Bob Eckler, Kenny Elam, Joe Faulconer, Gene Elam, Travis Elam, Carlos Platt, Rick Massie, Rob Massie. Honorary bearers will be Chris Campbell, Gayle Garrison and Mike Jones. The family requests visitation on Friday, November 9, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Spears Mill Baptist Church, Bedford Acres Christian Church or Bluegrass Hospice Care.
