She was the granddaughter of Khufu (Cheops) and wife of Khafre (Chephren), her father was a prince (Kawab) and son of Khufu. Meresankh means “she loves life”. Her mother was Hetepheres II and her father was Khufu. Meresankh has a famous mastaba tomb which was opened to the public for the first time in 2012 (it was first found in 1927). Because it is located in the Giza complex, her tomb alludes to her holding power in the transitional period between Pharaohs but what that would exactly be is unknown; she lived during the 4th Dynasty in the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt.
