Ruth graduated from Marinette High School with the Class of 1952. She married William “Jitters” Lieburn on April 16, 1955. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, singing in the church for choir for over 60 years. Ruth also served on the church Finance Committee, as Memorial Fund Secretary-Treasurer for several years and was a member of the Board of Trustees. For many years, Ruth sang in a trio with Bill and their brother-in-law, Al Rieter, which performed for weddings, funerals, community events and was a beloved part of Lieburn family gatherings. While her children were young, she was active in P.T.A., serving as treasurer. Ruth was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, holding the office while her husband, Bill, served as Worthy Patron. Working with other local classmates, Ruth and Bill organized many reunions of the Class of 1952. Over the years Ruth was employed by Wisconsin and Michigan Bell Telephone Co., Marinette Produce and by Gordon Machinery Sales where she worked as a bookkeeper for 24 years. After retirement, she and Bill wintered in Florida for several years. Ruth enjoyed singing, reading and knitting. She loved time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many friends.
Ruth is survived by her children: David (Kathy) Lieburn of Green Bay, Tim (Mary) Lieburn of DePere, Brian (Pam) Lieburn of Columbus, Ohio, and Diane (David) Lund of Byron, Minn.; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Lieburn of Rochester, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Jack Guimond; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Lieburn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; a son, Thomas; and two sisters: Avyce Guimond and Pat Garneski.
Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, from 11 a.m. until noon. Funeral services will follow at noon with the Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating.
Entombment will be in Forest Home Mausoleum.
