Kathy Anne Peak Andrews, 63, of Lawrence, formerly of Oskaloosa and Girard, KS, died Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was born December 14, 1954 at Girard, the daughter of Loyd Michael and Pauline Louise Appier Peak. Kathy was a 1972 Girard High School Graduate. She and her brothers and sisters helped on the family farm, where Loyd raised foundation Quarter Horses and Santa Gertrudis cattle. She majored in Art Therapy and Psychology at Pittsburg State University. She received her Nursing Degree from Fort Scott Community College. Kathy worked as an LPN for different nursing facilities in Pittsburg, Denver, CO, Girard and most recently Winchester, retiring in 2011 due to health issues. Kathy loved to draw and was quite the artist, she always had a sketch pad near by. Prior to her mother’s passing in 2007, the two could be found out on the patio, sipping coffee, eating sticky buns and playing a rousing game of scrabble. She also loved the nurses and staff she worked with. They would often host parties and the ladies would enjoy refreshments and Pauline’s famous pumpkin muffins and banana bread. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Survivors include a son, Stephen Andrews, Lawrence, daughter, Beth (Jake) Barnett, Oskaloosa, and her Companion, Joe Ruff, of the home, two brothers, Robert “Bob” (Eleanor) Peak, Michael “Mike” (Kathy) Peak both of Girard, two sisters, Paula (Doug) Keller, Frontenac, Karen (Ed) Pellett, Memphis, TN, three granddaughters, Natalie, Gabrielle and Isabella Barnett, many nieces, nephews and friends. Cremation is planned. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at Girard City Cemetery this coming spring. Time and date will be announced later. In Leiu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Oskaloosa High School Band Department ( her grandchildren are all active in this program) and sent in care of Barnett Family Funeral Home, PO Box 602, Oskaloosa, KS 66066. Online condolences may be made
