Stella Whitney (Spangler) Miller, age 89 of Carlisle, PA passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at her residence with her family by her side.
She was born June 8, 1929 in Harrisburg the daughter of the late John Whitney and Margaret Hildebrant Whitney. She married Marlin Ray Miller on April 20, 1980.
Stella graduated from John Harris High School. After graduation, she worked for Bell Telephone. She retired as the secretary at the Gladfelter Pulp Wood Company and had also worked for the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. She was a member of the Carlisle First Church of God and a member of the Church of God Women's Group and the Pairs and Spares Sunday school class. She loved to work on crafts, enjoyed time tending to her flower gardens, watching the hummingbirds, loved spending time with her husband of 38 years and the time spent with her family.
Stella is survived by her husband, Marlin Ray Miller of Carlisle, three children: Elaine Barrick and her husband Richard of Bloserville, Susan Reeves of Carlisle, and Paul Spanger of Newville, two grandchildren: Alex and Samuel Reeves, a great-grandchild: Avery Reeves, her step-children: Mark Miller, of Greencastle, Kelly Robbins and her husband Tim of England, Julie Gutshall and her husband Keith of Carlisle, step-grandchildren: Bryce and Ryan Miller, Brandon and BJ Hairston.
In addition to her parents Stella was preceded in death by a sister: Margaret Rupp and a brother Harry Whitney.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at the Carlisle First Church of God, 705 Glendale Street, Carlisle, with the Rev. Michael Poe, officiating.
A visitation will be held from 10 AM until time of the service.
Private Burial will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.
