Ida Frances Brewer, 85 of Springfield, IL formerly of Virden, IL passed away at 2:20 P.M. Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village, Springfield, IL with her friends at her bedside.
Ida was born in Benton, IL on March 17, 1933 a daughter to Frank and Ida Mae (Post) Grimmett. Ida attended Virden High School and graduated in 1951.
After graduation Ida worked for a large firm in Chicago in their clerical department. She later moved to California where she again worked for a large company in their clerical department and was married on May 19, 1962 in San Diego, California. When she divorced in 1971 she moved to Virginia and worked for the Federal Government. Ida loved to travel around and she also went to school to learn how to use and set up teletype. She returned to Illinois and went to work for The Illinois State Police as a Clerk / Dispatcher in 1973 and took her early retirement in 1995. She loved to read and her two favorite authors were Stuart Woods and Catherine Coulter. She loved the outdoors as she loved to spend time in her garden and with her horse and Pomeranians. She loved to knit and crochet and most importantly she loved spending time with her family and her friends.
Surviving Ida is a niece, Karen Morris of Sumrall, MS and her friends, Dottie Brabec, Frank, Frances and Bob.
Preceding Ida in death are her parents; brothers, Warren, Christopher and Arthur Grimmett and a cousin, Doris Lomelino.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 12, 2018 at the Virden Cemetery, Virden, Illinois with Kevin Simburger officiating.
Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross.
