Patricia and John were active in many civic and social organizations in the Beckley area throughout their lives. The couple had two daughters, Robin and Melinda. Judge John Ashworth died in 1995.

Mrs. Ashworth taught at Waynesburg College, West Virginia University and the former Beckley College.
