Mr. Tommy Cox, Sr. was born September 2, 1942 to the late Marvin and Irene Cox Walker in LaGrange, Georgia. He was affectionally known by many as Tom.

Tom joined St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age and later affiliated with Friendship Baptist Church.

He graduated from Ethel W. Kight High School, Class of 1963.

Tom was a faithful employee of Milliken and Company’s Valway Plant for thirty-six years.

He was a sports enthusiast which made him fondly embraced by many of the neighborhood children who looked to Tom as a father figure because of his caring and supportive personality. Tom was an avid Braves fan.

On Tuesday, August 14, 2018, Tom peacefully entered into Eternal Rest at WellStar West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Tommy “Tom Tom” Cox, Jr.; brother, Rufus Cox; and sister, Dorothy Hall.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Rosetta Cox; his two loving daughters: Renea (Stephen) Simmons, Acworth, GA; and Pamela Cox, Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren: Courtney Cameron, Shantris Cameron, Jay Simmons and Tyler Davidson; one brother, Grover Cox; three sisters: Catherine Johnson, Ethel (Rev. John) Tompkins, and Marian Byrd; sisters-in-law: Amanda McFerson, Christine Cameron, Leanna (Bobby) Shepherd, and Patricia Cox; many nieces and nephews, all of whom he was excitedly proud; his extended family including the Askew, Boddie, Cameron, Rome, and Ward families.

He will be sadly missed by many of his family and friends.
