Carol Jean Saunders Benson died Thursday, March 22 at Pleasant View nursing home in Monroe, Wisconsin. She was born on January 8, 1935 in Jackson County, Iowa the daughter of Davis and Hazel (Watters) Saunders. Carol graduated from Maquoketa High School in Maquoketa, Iowa in 1953. She worked in home health care and restaurants before moving to Wisconsin. She married Chester Earl Benson on November 13, 2004.

Carol enjoyed playing accordion and she and Earl played music together in many places in and around South Wayne where they lived. She loved a party and she and Earl enjoyed many birthdays where they could play their beloved music. Carol was a proud member of the Swiss Singers.

Carol is survived by a niece Karen (LeeRoy) Proesch of Wheatland, Iowa and a nephew Joseph Rowan of Iowa City, Iowa, and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl and two brothers and one sister.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 4:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (801 Milwaukee St., Argyle).
