Susan Pease Barnes of Webster, NH passed away on November 2, 2018, surrounded by family. Sue was the loving wife of nearly 52 years to David; devoted mother to Heather and Chris; and the world's best ""Mema"" to Robbie, Aiden, Tucker, Keanan, and Aniah.

Susan was born in Springfield, MA on December 28, 1940. She attended Deaconess Nursing School in Boston, and enjoyed a long and diverse career as a registered nurse. Her friends from nursing school remain close, and she was happy to recently attend their yearly reunion.

In 1962, her friends Marge and David Williams introduced her to Dave, whom she referred to often as the love of her life. Together, they lived in New Britain, Harwington, Kensington, and Barkhamsted, CT; Pulaski, TN; and Swanzey, NH. Along the way, Sue collected loyal friends everywhere she went. Cherishing these connections was a great joy in her life, and many hours were spent on phone calls and wonderfully long, handwritten letters.

In 1995, they moved to Webster, NH, where they found a welcoming community and wonderful neighbors. Retirement gave Sue the opportunity to indulge in her passions and hobbies: traveling, being with friends, gardening and bird watching, volunteering, spending time with her beloved grandchildren, and ""running away"" for weekends with her husband.

Her family is indebted to this dedicated and loving support system that allowed her to remain in the home in Webster that she loved so much. Susan is predeceased by her husband and her parents, Edna and Robert Pease.

Those of us fortunate to have known Mema will remember her love for her husband, her absolute joy in her grandchildren, her selfless devotion to family and friends, her adventurous spirit, and her sweet, sweet nature - tempered with an irreverent humor that never failed to delight.

As we all struggle to imagine life without her, a few things are coming clear: more kindness, more love, more listening, more togetherness.
