Sarah Mae Pearline Andrews, 93, of Bordentown, N.J., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. at Park Avenue Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 70 Park Ave., East Orange, N.J. Visitation at the church is on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be held privately at Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, N.J. Arrangements are by Woody "Home For Services" of Orange, N.J.

Born in Plainview, Va., Sarah Mae was a resident of Bordentown for four years. She was employed as a ward clerk at Columbus Hospital in Newark, N.J., where she worked for over 30 years before retiring.

Sarah Mae was the beloved mother of Patricia Pugh (Samuel), Sylvia Jackson (Connie Lee), Sandra Walcott, Carol Stewart (William), Terry Hopkins (Darrin), Pamela Andrews, Nathaniel Andrews (Elma), Glenn Andrews (Tina), Jeffrey Andrews, and William M. Andrews. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; four great-great-great-grandchildren; three nieces; one nephew; other relatives and friends, as well as her Park Ave. Christian Church family.

Sarah Mae Pearline (Dabney) Andrews was born on June 2, 1925 on a farm in Plainview, Virginia, to the late Arley B. Harris and the late John M. Dabney. Their first child of five children: Stanley, Edith, Lillie, and John are all now deceased. She departed this life on November 1, 2018 at 11:00 am.

The Dabney family moved to Trenton, NJ where Sarah entered the school system. After her father’s death in 1935 the family moved to Orange New Jersey where she concluded her elementary education and attended Orange High School. She had to leave school after two years to help her mother. She worked in several jobs first as a maid, then as a companion (or home health aide) for several people then worked at Orange Memorial Hospital as a nurses’ aid where she met her husband.

In her adult life she attended Mount Carmel Baptist Church and joined the choir. She married the late Thomas E. Andrews, Sr. on June 25, 1945. And they began their family in 1947 and had twelve children: Pat, Skip (Thomas, Jr.), Jon, Jay (Nathanial), Sylvie, Sandy, Carol, Jeffery, Marty (William), Terry, Pam, and Glenn. Later in their retirement years Sarah, Thomas and their son Jeffery, joined Park Avenue Christian Church Disciples of Christ where they continued their Christian work.

Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were 2 sons: Thomas Andrews, Jr. and Jon Andrews. She leaves to mourn her remaining children, Patricia (& Samuel) Pugh, Nathanial (& Alma) Andrews, William M. Andrews, Jeffery Andrews, and Glenn (& Tina) Andrews, and Sylvia (& Connie Lee) Jackson, Sandra Walcott, Carol (& William) Stewart, Terry (& Darrin) Hopkins, and Pamela Andrews along with her 20 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
