She was born February 7, 1995 in Bridgeton and was a graduate of Hopewell Crest School in 2009 and Cumberland Regional High School with the class of 2013. While in high school Kayla was a member of the cross country team.
Since the summer she was working at Mustard Seed Kid Care, LLC in Vineland. Prior to working in Vineland, she worked at Nazarene Acres Day Care in Hopewell Township.
Kayla loved working with children. She also enjoyed exercising and working out.
Another of her passions was her love affair with the Ford Mustang. She even belonged to two different car clubs.
She is survived by her mother, Melissa A. Sammartino (nee Cossaboon) and her husband Joseph G. of Hopewell Township, her father, Karl S. Smith and his wife Doris of Vineland, two brothers, Travis I. Smith (Korey) of Roswell, NM and Joseph G. "Joey" Sammartino Jr. of Hopewell Township. Additional survivors include maternal grandparents, Elaine and Clarence Cossaboon of Millville, paternal grandparents, Linda and William Smith of Cedarville as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Liturgy at The Parish of the Holy Cross/St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, 46 Central Ave., Bridgeton on Friday afternoon November 9th at 2 o'clock.
The burial will follow at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Township.
Friends will be received at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 E. Commerce St., Bridgeton on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 and also Friday afternoon at the church from 1 until 2.
