She was born February 12, 1947, in Parkersburg, WV, a daughter of the late Aaron Alexander and Esther Lavena (Balderson) Battin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth R. McCoy; sisters Donna Jean Bailey and Barbara Sue Denning.
Nancy was a 1965 Parkersburg High School graduate, attended Mountain State College and was a member of the Summitt Valley United Methodist Church. Her hobbies were reading and crocheting. She did “Read A Loud” in many area schools. At one time, she was reading to 26 different classes. She especially enjoyed reading to Williamstown and Waverly grade school children. Nancy was also the organist and pianist for many area churches.
She is survived by her son Nicholas Ray McCoy of Williamstown, one sister Janet Carolene Thompson of Mineral Wells, WV and several nieces.
Service will be 2 p.m., Thursday November 8, 2018, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
