Obituary for Craig L. Schmidt
CRAIG L. SCHMIDT was born on February 21, 1955 to James and Mavis (Pederson) Schmidt in Pipestone, Minnesota. He lived on the family farm in Grange Township until 1961, when the family then moved to Jasper, Minnesota. He helped on the family farm in Eden Township. Activities that he was involved in while growing up were choir, Letterman’s Club, intramurals, FFA, 4-H Horse Club, wrestling, and football. He attended school in Pipestone and graduated in 1973. Following high school, he attended Pipestone Vocational School where he studied textiles. He worked for a local clothing store before heading to St. Cloud to attend school. While in St. Cloud he attended school and then started working as a truck driver. He then left St. Cloud to move to Jasper. While in Jasper he started attending South Dakota State University for electrical engineering. He then worked with his father at the family business, Jim’s Plumbing and Heating. Upon the passing of his father, he took over the family business until he moved to New Ulm in 1997. In New Ulm, he worked for a painter and sign maker until he became disabled. Craig died suddenly on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Hennepin Healthcare at the age of 63.

He is lovingly remembered by his brother, Bruce of Pipestone; his sister, Valeria of Pipestone; one niece; five nephews; nine great-nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, J.
