Mr. Jim David Watson

Mr. Jim David Watson of Dothan passed away Monday, November 5, 2018. He was 69.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, November 8, 2018, at Harper's Joy Assembly of God Church with Reverends Eddie Littlefield and Thomas Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, November 7, 2018. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation in his memory to Southeast Health Foundation, P.O.Box 6987, Dothan, Al 36302-9965. Your donation will support the purchase of a fixed-based positron emission tomography (PET) scanner.

Mr. Watson was born March 23, 1949 in Sledge, MS. He served in the U.S. Army from June 1968 to June 1970, having served in the Infantry Armored Division as Sargent E-5 in Vietnam from November 1968 to October 1969.

He married Linda Strickland of Eufaula, AL in 2002 and is a member of Harper's Joy Assembly of God in Dothan, AL. He retired as a Lock Operator in 2005 from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Gaines, GA.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Watson, Sr.; his mother, Catherine Tramel Watson, his brothers Scotty Watson and Jerry Watson, and his sister-in-law, Peggy Watson.

Survivors include his wife Linda Watson of Dothan; two brothers Robbie (Shelbia) Watson of Starkville, MS., and Charles Watson, Jr. of Amory, MS.; three sisters Dian (Butch) Hobbs of Truman, AR.; Martha (Jearl) Looney of Conway, AR; Pat (Gomer) Massie of Monroe, MI; sister-in-law Nancy Watson of Ackerman, MS; sons Kevin (Beverly) Watson and Heath Watson of Fulton, MS; granddaughter Anna (Daniel) Bucci and great-granddaughters Addi-Klair and Nora June of Tupelo, MS; granddaughter Haley Watson and he mother Tanya (Rodney) Little of Fulton, MS; Linda Palmer Watson, mother of his son, of Fulton, MS; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
