The late Ray and Dorothy Haynes welcomed Jo on March 25, 1940 in Memphis, Tn. Jo graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1958. After school, Jo married Robert E. Eldred and together they welcomed two daughters to this world, Joey and Lyndee.
Jo became a widow in 1999 but was able to find happiness again with Veteran, Jackie Pemberton. Jo and Jackie were married on May 31, 2007 and have 3 dogs together, Jo was very talented and had desire to teach others. At an early age Jo realized her passion for dance and by the age 14 earned a certificate to teach dance. Her devotion to dance helped develop and lead her to a career instructing ballet, tap, jazz, gymnastics, acrobatics and pointe toe ballet to over 250 students. In addition to instructing dance she taught baton twirling to beginners through advanced.
Jo also enjoyed children and devoted time to teaching kindergarten for 15 years. Jo's career was a result of her achievements and accomplishments as a child and young woman. During Jo's retired years she was a member of the Red hat Society, the Greater Shelby Kennel Club and Whitehaven Baptist Church. Jo is survived by husband, Jackie Pemberton of Southaven, MS, daughter Lyndee Rae Eldred-Goodman of Memphis, TN, grandchildren; Michael David Sullivan of Georgia, Abbey and Jack Goodman of Memphis, TN, cousins Ms. Peggy Ryan, Ms. Dorothy Lee Moore, Ms. Carol Haynes, Mr. Charles Eoff Jr., Mr. Joe Eoff and Mr. Bobby Eoff.
Jo was preceded in death by parents, Ray and Dorothy Haynes, daughter, Joey Eldred-Sullivan and husband Robert Eldred. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018 at New Church Memphis with services to follow at 2 p.m. the same day. Burial to follow at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
