Dennis was born in Louisville to the late Joseph and Amelia Welch. He enjoyed the opportunities afforded to him to travel as a field engineer during a rewarding career with General Electric. He was a 1957 graduate of Flaget and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered and missed by many for his fun-loving personality, a wonderful sense of humor, and ability to never meet a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; loving and devoted wife, Ann Louise Welch; and brothers, Gerry Welch and Joe Welch.
Survivors include his daughter, Denise Wimsatt; sons, Chris Welch (Cami) and Kevin Welch (Lee Anne); sister, Miriam Margaret McCreary (Bill); brother, Michael Bernard Welch (Mary “Ella” Richards); sister-in-law, Rosemary Koenig Welch; seven grandchildren, Sean, Sophie, Sarah, Brittany, T.J., Caitlin and Lauren; as well as a great grandchild, Nora Rose.
Visitation will be 2 – 8 PM Thursday at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday at St. Albert the Great, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
