Roger Wayne Bowman passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 85.

He was born in LeRoy on November 20, 1932 to Raymond (RL) and Mabel (Dosenberry-Kearns) Bowman in the same farmhouse that he passed away. On December 11, 1952 he was drafted into the United States Army and he served until October 12, 1954 when he was honorably discharged after serving his country in the Korean War. Upon his return home from military service, he began employment with Swanson’s Lumber Co. and worked on the family farm with his father. On February 25, 1955 he was married to Lavada Houseman who survives him. From 1957-59 he worked for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources as a lookout in the fire towers. In 1959, he began working for Keller Tool Co. (later Kel Reed/Gardner Denver) and was employed for 27 years. He also spent time as a bus driver for the Pine River schools and as a security guard for Eagle Village.

He enjoyed gardening, sports, his beloved dogs, and traveling with his wife.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years; children, Gale (Chuck), Steve (Kathy), and Robin (Lora); grandchildren, Jennifer (Dick) Duddles, Matthew (Holly) Beach, Peggy (David) Raines, Eric (Anna) Bowman, Shelly (Josh) Bowman; and step-grandchild, Melissa (CJ) Chapman; his 11 great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren; his brother, Richard (Rachel) Bowman; and his beloved dog, Mickey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mabel Bowman, and a step-grandson.

Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Pruitt-Livingston Funeral Home in Reed City with Rev. Scott Loomis officiating. Burial and military honors will follow at the Maple Hill Cemetery in LeRoy.
