Brenda Kaye Carr was born on January 24, 1947 in Chattanooga to Earl and Katharine Carr. She went home to be with the Lord on June 16, 2017.

She was a graduate of Howard High School and was employed with Olan Mills for 42 years. She accepted Christ and united with Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor W.D. Clark in 1979. She was a faithful teacher of the Junior Sunday School Class, a member of the courtesy ministry, and the Sweet Hour of Prayer (S.H.O.P.) Ministry.

She was preceded in death by her parents and oldest brother, Earl Carr, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted son, Jamaal Hicks; brothers, Morris Carr of Chattanooga, Terry (Hattie) Carr of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Tillman (Karen) Carr of Cheney, Wa.; aunt, Bettie Lavender of Detroit; loving and devoted god-sisters, Rosemary Porter and Linda Austin of Chattanooga, and Janice Whatley of Nashville; god-daughters, Ziva Gantt of Chattanooga, and Markial Ribbins of Antioch, Tn.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends; extended family the Hicks family, Dora Lester, Seabron and Mickey Battle, Mrs. Francis Davis and family.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 24, at noon at Union Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Glen P. Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills.

The body will lie in state after noon on Friday. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m.

Arrangements will be announced by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
