William Yancy Adams was a minister,teacher and legislator. His parents were Barkley and Martha Musgrove Adams. Professor Adams was married three times. First to Caroline Price in 1872 and had four children.Second to Cenia Chamblee in 1874, third to Mary Penny in 1884 and had ten children. He taught school for fifty-eight years in rural area's in Blount County,Walnut Grove in which he founded,Hokes Bluff College and the Agriculture school in Blountsville,Alabama. Also, he was the superintendent of the Board of Education in Blount County. He served two terms in the State Legislature. There is a plaque bearing his name and dates of his service at Walnut Grove College.
