Romero, 19, of Crowley, Texas; was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died May 18 in Tahrir, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his unit came in contact with enemy forces using an improvised explosive device. Also killed were Sgt. Anselmo Martinez III and Spc. Casey W. Nash. He leaves a wife, Michelle, and a 1-year-old son. His survivors also include his parents and five siblings. He was 19.
