Obituary for Eleanor Haseltine Brooks
MANSFIELD - Eleanor Beazley Brooks, 98, better known as Mimi to her family, peacefully met her Savior on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018.
She was born on Aug. 21, 1920, to Jessie and George Beazley in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Poly High School in Fort Worth, Texas in 1938. She married the love of her life, Gene Brooks, on March 25, 1941. Together they were active members of Sagamore Hill Baptist Church in Fort Worth for 68 years where she was a charter member. Her love for her Lord was evident through her many years of teaching Sunday School, camp sponsoring, Vacation Bible Schools, youth choir trips and reaching out to serve those in her community.

She loved many things. She was known to have said, "If it's blue, I'll buy it...if it's chocolate, I'll eat it." She also loved her five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, treasured friends, dogs of many kinds (mostly dachshunds), cooking (especially her famous chocolate pie and potato salad), traveling, floating the river in New Braunfels, hosting New Year's Eve parties, Tuesday Prayer Group, shopping, sewing, laughing, gardening and Christmas but mostly her sweet and funny husband, Gene aka Pepaw.

She was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom for many years. She was later employed at Foster Financial Corporation for a short time...mainly to pay for her daughters' education...Sic 'em Bears!!

She and Gene's adventurous spirit took them down the Colorado River though the Grand Canyon on a raft for 8 days. They also flew on the Concorde to England and returned on the QE 2 Cruise Ship. She loved seeing the beauty of fall in New England with friends, walking where Jesus walked in Israel and experiencing the amazing pyramids in Egypt.

We rejoice that she is in her Heavenly home. She lived a faithful life and blessed many people. We are thankful for her legacy to her family and her influence on others. We loved her dearly for her spunk and fun as well as her steadfast love of the Lord.

Survivors: Daughters, Sherry and husband, John Bryant of Arlington, Texas and Peggy and husband, Bill Bain of Katy, Texas; five grandchildren, Robyn and (Rich) Rogers of Arlington, Texas, Jenny and (Shannon) Johnston of Shreveport, Louisiana, Melissa Pogue of Dallas, Texas, David and (Suzanne) Bain of Katy, Texas and Jaime and (Michael) Gorman of Katy, Texas; 11 eleven great-grandchildren, Harrison and Griffin Rogers, Allie and Kate Johnston, Reagan, Ethan and Riley Pogue, Jackson, Charlie and Camryn Bain and Keely Gorman.

The family expresses a special appreciation to all of the wonderfully compassionate caregivers at Walnut Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care of Mansfield, Texas.
