Edna Mae Lindner Hairrell, 87, of Athens, passed away on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at NHC Healthcare of Athens.

She was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, was a daughter of the late Virgil and Susie Ozment Lindner, and was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James C. “Jimmy” Hairrell Jr.; son, James E. “Jimbo” Hairrell in 2017; and brother, Virgil Lindner Jr.

She retired in 1995 from National Pharmacy, which supplied medicine to eight nursing homes, and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Many thanks to Dr. Johnnie Carter and staff, Guardian Health Care, especially physical therapist Chuck, for their help after her stroke in 2013, and to Gayle Kasier, best caregiver known, Stacie Clifton, best neighbor, Van Wall, and, most importantly, for God’s care.

She was a member of Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include daughter, Teresa “Terri” Wall of Englewood; grandson and wife, Jake and Julie Hairrell of Decatur; granddaughter and husband, Michelle “Shelly” and Stephen Johnson of Englewood; and two great-granddaughters, Mikayla and Maddie Choat of Englewood.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Sunday at McMinn Memory Gardens. There was no formal visitation. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to their favorite charity.

Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
