Worthy was no stranger to hard work. He spent all of his life working hard. First in a textile mill and then sawmilling and farming in later life. Worthy's garden was well known and enjoyed by the community. A man of few words, he meant what he said with a heart of compassion and a strong love for his family and friends. The biggest joys of his life were loving his family and sharing with others. He was a member of Needham's Grove Baptist Church.
Worthy was preceded in death by the love of his life, Mary Stout Welch, parents, Jessie and Etta Kennedy Welch, brothers, Robert Welch, Bill Welch, Junior Welch, sisters, Dorothy Kennedy, Mandy Welch, Thelma Davis, Pauline Frye.
Survivors: sons, Jessie Russell Welch, and wife, Tammy, of Seagrove, Perry Randall Welch, and wife, Annette, of Seagrove, grandchildren, that meant the world to him, Jessie Ryan Welch, and wife, Laura, Anna Newsome, and husband, Darren, Jason Welch, Codey Welch, all of Seagrove, Meka Lamb, and husband, Casey, of Randleman, great-grandchildren, the joy of his life, Gracie Welch, Rylie Beth Welch, Cole Welch, Eli Newsome, Daniel Newsome.
