Rapid City- Jerry Bruce Potter passed away at Rapid City Regional Hospital on Friday, November2, 2018 after a short illness. Jerry was born in Rapid city on November 26, 1950 to Claude and Donna Potter. Jerry went to school in the Rapid City School System and graduated in 1968. He attended Black Hills State and after school moved to Vermillion, South Dakota and worked various jobs. He married Colleen Collins and had two children, Miles and Erin. After moving back to Rapid city, Jerry started a 20-year career in carpentry. In 1991 he went to votech school to be a computer technician. In 1995 he started a new career as an IT analyst for Black Hills Workshop. In 1995 he married the love of his life Alberta. He retired in 2016
Jerry had many hobbies. He enjoyed gardening, growing tomatoes, making salsa, walleye fishing, and riding his Harley Davidson. He and his wife, Alberta, also enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, and going to deadwood.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 23 years, Alberta; one son Miles, Hunter, MN; one daughter, Erin Hunter, Rapid City, SD; one stepson, Wade (Cecil) Asbjeld, Rapid City, SD; one brother Steve (Robin) Potter, Madison, WI; on niece Julia Potter, Maddison, WI; 2 sisters-in-law Carmen (Charles) Estergard, Hasting, MN, and Jamie Mikulak, Rapid City, SD. 13 grandchildren, 11great-grandchildren, and his favorite uncle Lloyd (Mary)Potter, Rapid City, SD.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Donna, 2 stepsons, Robert and Rocky, 2 nieces and one nephew.
