Joanna Beasley Jones, 87, went to be with her Lord and her beloved husband, J. W., of 52 years, on December 6, 2012.

Joanna was born May 4th,1925 and passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas, where she lived her final years close to her loving daughter, Kay.

Joanna was loved and celebrated by her friends and family because of her sweet personality, that special twinkle in her eye, her unselfish nature and her genuine interest and caring for all those around her. She was born, raised and lived substantially all her life in the Middleground community of Bulloch County. She was a graduate of Statesboro High School. She cherished her community involvement, particularly the Home Demonstration Club and thoroughly enjoyed the activities and lifelong friendships of the Merrytime Club. She and J.W. were longtime members of Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church and treasured the support and fellowship of those brothers and sisters. She and her best friend, Ernestine Minick, were known to occasionally burst into giggles during some of the inspirational sermons. Joanna was a homemaker who loved cooking, cleaning and taking care of her husband and family. She made the best apple tarts this side of the Mason-Dixon Line. Her grandchildren loved being awakened in her home by the clanging sounds of her cooking up a breakfast feast early in the mornings when they were little.

She is survived by her two children, daughter Kay Jones of Dallas, Texas and son Kelly Jones and his wife (daughter-in-love) Cindy Jones of Columbia, South Carolina; her three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Josh, wife Amy, and children Ally and Matthew Jones of Washington, D.C.; Jamie, husband Steve, and children Carter and Benjamin Thompson of Dallas, Texas; and Jared and wife Ashley, and children Bailey and Piper Jones of Columbia, South Carolina.

She is also survived by her sister, Doreen Perkins, of Statesboro and was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth and Red Beasley of Statesboro.

Visitation will be held at Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 11, at 10 a.m. followed by funeral services and burial at the church cemetery. The family welcomes friends to visit at her home afterward.

Pallbearers will Josh Jones, Jared Jones, Ray Beasley, Joe Perkins, Dewayne Perkins, David DeLoach .

The family requests that memorial contributions be made Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund C/o Obed Minick 1529 Metts Rd. Statesboro, GA 30461.
