She was born to the late Howard and Beulah Peeler in Lawndale NC on November 5, 1935 and shared her childhood on a farm in Lawndale with her beloved sisters, Dorothy and Pat.
After graduating from Polkville School, she enjoyed working in the textile and automotive industry. Shirley later opened and operated her own daycare. Her hands stayed busy in her later years with sewing, needle crafting, puzzling, gardening, reading, listening to southern gospel music and loving her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, David; a son and daughter, Susan and Ray.
She has been a member of Northside Baptist Church for over forty five years and plans are to receive friends beginning at 6P on Tuesday, November 6 which will flow into a beautiful music celebration of her life at 7P. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 7 at 11AM.
Shirley believed in supporting ministries that furthered the great commission which is to " Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matt. 28: 19-20). So in lieu of flowers, please give to your local church or a ministry that furthers God's kingdom in her name.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Fallston, NC.
