Hazel was born in Oakham to John P. and Mary C. O'Donnell. She was a graduate of Barre High School and the Fairfield School of Worcester, MA. She was the bookkeeper plus for the R.T. Young Construction Company of Oakham. She loved the town of Oakham and served as the first selectwoman, was on the finance committee and served on various other committees and groups. The town's Historical Museum was her childhood home. Hazel was always known for her beautiful quilting and other crafts. She was part of two quilting groups for many years and had so many wonderful memories from them.
