Elizabeth Doan Jones, the wife and widow of John B. Jones, was born in the State of North Carolina, September 30, 1794. Her parents moved to Kentucky when she was about three years old, where she resided some 20 years, and where she was married to John B. Jones in 1812. From there the family removed to Indiana, and from then to Richland County in 1858. Here she has resided and taken an active and laborious part in the toils and privations in the settlement of the county, caring for a large family. She was the mother of twelve children. Six children and about fifty grand-children survive her. Mrs. Jones became a member of the Christian church while in Indiana about 60 years ago, and has ever manifested the sincerity of her profession in spirit and practice, infidelity to her duty, and was comforted and supported in her protracted sickness by the hope and faith in the future and better life. She died on the 13th of September, 1887 at the advanced age of 93 years, at the residence of her son, John B. Jones, of this town, respected and loved my many friends. Gently, the passing spirit fled, Sustained by grace divine, O! may such grace on us be shed, And make our end like thine. Richland Center, Wi: Republican Observer, 22 Sep 1887, p.8,c.6.

Her father was Hezekiah Doan IV.

Elizabeth had 11 children. In addition to the seven mentioned she also had Elizabeth born 2/17/1816 died before June 11, 1865, Matilda born 12/12/1817 and died before October 1895, Evan born 10/14/1823 and died after 6/4/1866, and Mary Jane born 5/12/1828.
