MARION - Linda Baxley Owens age 72, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018, at home after a long illness. She was born July 10, 1946, in Marion County and was a daughter of the late James Robert Baxley and Bernice Harrelson Baxley. She was married to James Carlton Owens on June 13, 1970.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at Reedy Creek Baptist Church, with burial at Reedy Creek Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral. Rev. Guy Langston and Rev. Bobby Byrd will officiate the service.
Linda graduated from Rains Centenary High School in 1964, and from Queens College in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church where she served as the pianist and organist for more than 50 years. She was a nurse, homemaker, devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, James (Jimmy) of Marion; two daughters, Tara Smith (Bryan) of Raleigh, NC and Ashley DiLeo (Zack) of Kensington, MD; , a son, James "Chip" (Alexandra) Carlton, Jr. of Marion; a brother, James Randy Baxley of Marion; and 4 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, James Robert Baxley and Bernice Harrelson Baxley and a sister, Bernice Bonnita Baxley.
