Bio: Joseph was a Civil War veteran. He enlisted in the Lewistown Guard "First Defenders" and responded to the first call of President Lincoln for volunteers. Following his first tour of duty, he re-enlisted for three years in the 49th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Volunteers.
