Sister Jimmie Beatrice Simmons, affectionately known to many as “Jimmie B" or J.B. was born in Richland County on April 10, 1930 to the late James and Ruth Rivers Cooper. She departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest at Palmetto Health Baptist on Monday, October 29, 2018. Jimmie B. was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James W. Cooper and Marion C. Cooper; two sisters, Ruthie M. Cooper Tucker and Earline Miller.
Jimmie B. attended school in the Lower Richland area. She retired from Union Underwear (Fruit of the Loom) in Lexington, South Carolina. Jimmie B. joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church at an early age and later joined the Gunter's Chapel Baptist Church; both under the pastorate of Reverend Lewis Gunter. She was a dedicated member and a faithful servant with the Missionary Ministry and Pulpit Aid until her health declined.
She was home bound for a number of years.
Those left to cherish precious memories are one brother; Walter “Bobby" (Barbara) Cooper of Columbia, South Carolina; many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral Service was held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 1 PM at Gunter's Chapel Baptist Church, 1631 Windover Street, Columbia, SC 29204 Interment following funeral service on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC.
