On May 1st 1966 she was married in Huntington to George "Jeff" Lyford. They lived in Bloomington, Indiana for 5 years before moving to Indianapolis, Indiana where she lived until her death on February 15, 2018.
At one time she had been an officer in her neighborhood association, a member of the Indiana Daylily-Iris Society, and a member of the Continental Dance Club. She planted and tended perennial gardens for 35 years, and neighbors called her "the flower lady". A portion of her garden was seen in the 1976 Bi-Centennial film "Johnny Horizon". She made and wore hats of her own design, and some people called her"the hat lady". And when at Concerts on the Canal she danced with her husband on the canal walk, some people called her "the dancing hat lady". When attending a musical event at the Arts Garden a young woman handed her a note which read, " Thank goodness there are still women in this world who have a fabulous sense of style. You look marvelous! "
She is survived by her beloved Lhasa Apso "Missy", her husband of 51 years George "Jeff" Lyford, her son Skip and step-son Scott, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
