Anthony "Tootie" Francis Aliotta, 70, of Savannah, Ga, passed away peacefully the morning of October 28, 2018. Tony was a devoted husband, father, stepfather, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was born in Savannah, GA on July 22, 1948. He attended Blessed Sacrament School, Benedictine Military School and Armstrong State College. Tony served as a Warrant Officer in the Vietnam War where he earned a Purple Heart as a Cobra helicopter pilot in the 8th Cavalry, one of the most highly decorated regiments of the war. He also received a Bronze Star, an Air Medal "V" for heroism while participating in aerial flight in the Republic of Vietnam. And he was also an Honoree of the 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment during Iraqi Freedom. He is preceded in death by his son Kevin Christopher Aliotta, his mother Margaret Brown Aliotta and father Salvatore Francis Aliotta. His career included years with SSA Marine, Ryan Walsh, Inc., Palmetto Shipping and Stevedoring Co., Southeast Atlantic Cargo Operators (SEACO) and Global Marine Drilling Company. During these years, he traveled to many exciting places around the world. However, his children and grandchildren were the apple of his eye and they were his pride and joy. But his greatest achievement according to his children was that no matter where he was or what he was doing, he was there for them - no matter what. Tony was an avid reader and always encouraged his loved ones to "read a book"! You could see his smile from across the room when he was happily cooking anything Italian. He is survived by his wife of 18 years Linda Lott Aliotta, his daughter Stephanie Aliotta Coomer (Richard) and their children Everette and Molly, his son Anthony Sean Aliotta (Tiffany) and their daughters Hayden and Reagan, his brother Frank D. Aliotta (Lisa A.), his sisters Betty Aliotta Shay (Rick) and Maria Aliotta Oxnard (Ben), his aunt Mary Anne M. Aliotta, stepdaughters Kari Pace and her children Kelcey, Kasen and Colten and Christen Rose (Shaun) and their children Calvin, MacKenzie and Clara and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held at Baker-McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406 on Thursday evening, November 1, 2018 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The family request that remembrances in honor of Tony be sent to: Tiny House Project, Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless, P.O. Box 8936, Savannah, GA 31412/ operationtinyhome.org.
