Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 12, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Phillips was born February 10, 1943 in Wilkes County to Heggie “Heg” Hamilton and Iris Welch Phillips. He served in the United States Army. He retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation as Assistant Superintendent Vehicle Diagnostic Technician and worked part-time as an instructor at Wilkes Community College.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Nell Cox, Jewell Eller and three brothers; Wade, Jim and Joseph Phillips.
He is survived by his wife; Linda Laws Phillips of the home and one daughter; Belinda Elizabeth Phillips Laws and husband Rickey of Purlear.
