L. E. Birdsong

L. E. Birdsong , 71, 3964 Meadowlane Drive, died Saturday at the home of relatives in Jasper, Ala. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 2 p.m. today.

A native of Meridian, Birdsong was retired from the Mississippi Highway Patrol after 20 years of service. He was the past director of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators. He was currently employed by Dek Electro of Fort Wayne, Ind.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Watts Birdsong of Jackson; son, Dr. W. E. Birdsong of Jasper, Ala.; daughter, Mrs. W. E. Skinner of Natchez; sisters, Mrs. R. G. Blackwell of Meridian, Mrs. Curtis Lewis of Graceville, Fla., Mrs. C. B. Blackwell of Moss Point, Mrs. Leverne McPheeters of Marshall, Texas, Mrs. Malcom Rogers of Shreveport, La., and Mrs. Lois Rayner of Jackson; brother, B. F. Birdsong Jr. of Meridian; and eight grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
